We are tied to the ocean, and when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it, we are going back from whence we came.

The Ceremony

Burials at Sea provides a respectful and dignified delivery of the ashes of your loved one to the sea. Scattering cremated remains at sea is a common and eco-friendly choice. The services of a funeral director are not required for ash scatterings; families and individuals can plan these memorial events on their own. Burials at Sea can provide assistance in catering and music for you if you so desire. For ash scatterings, we voyage out approximately 3 nautical miles. Typical Ash Scattering Rates include an official sea burial certificate marking the latitude and longitude of your loved ones’ final resting place.

Testimonials

We would love your feedback. Use the contact form below to send us a message about your experience.

Thank you for helping us return our husband and father to the sea. We knew that we wanted to perform a burial at sea, but we did not know how to make that happen. Your assistance was professional and respectful but also warmly sympathetic. We will always be grateful that we were able to say goodbye with such a moving and appropriate ritual.

– Rosalind

“My father past away in July of 2016 and his wishes were to have his ashes scattered at sea. He wanted his family and close friends present and for the occasion to be simple and enjoyable. I searched around and spoke to a few different captains, but after my conversation with Jacob Kohl, I knew that their service was the one to choose. Having never participated in an ash scattering myself, I was a little uncertain of the process. They were very sympathetic and understanding and were able to answer all of my questions and put my mind at ease. The vessel was very accommodating, pleasant and comfortable and was perfect for this type of occasion. The crew was professional and respectful and I can’t show my appreciation enough for their support in making this happen for us. The scattering was very touching experience and a memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life. This I believe, is exactly what my father wanted it to be.”
Thank you,
Chris LeBlanc

Jake,

I just want you to hear and really know that this experience with YOU JAKE has been perfect from the moment I sent you my first question until  the moment we walked off the boat yesterday!!!
I couldn’t have custom designed a better experience to capture the essence of my mother and reflect on a Life well lived in a better way.
You and YOUR mother, Captain Dennis, Steve and Carol are bar none the best of the best human beings in the world and that is what I know for sure. I don’t know how I managed to hit thst jackpot. I believe it was divine intervention.
In addition, Nature cooperated fully and reflected love in every single moment on the boat in perfect timing and balance. These words and thank you pale by comparison to the feeling YOU and your crew left every single one of us with on this farewell journey in honor of my mother, Leah.
May the those feelings, the karma, kindness, hope and harmony of nature circle back and surround and follow each one of you for the rest of your days. You all helped make this memory live in our hearts and souls forever!!! Please tell all your people Jake. Thank you Jake with all my heart.
My most sincere gratitude,
Darlene and Family!!
